My parents are visiting from the east coast at the moment.
I am on my last few weeks of university holidays so we took the opportunity to travel down south for a few days and spend some rare quality time as a little family.
Being rural was a large part of my childhood. I was raised in a town wedged between ocean and scrub.
My weekends were divided between catching waves with my dad at the local beach (something I quickly grew out of as I got older and realized I wasn't cut from the 'surfie' cloth), and tagging along to stables with mum. Our family holidays have always revolved around the ocean or the bush.
